Briefing: Election Season!

Updated: May 20, 2021

Hey there, guys! Long time no see! I haven't had a lot of time to post for a while now, but life goes on, and there's plenty to talk about. As the title tells you, I am pleased to announce that my home state of West Bengal has officially moved into its election phase. The battle is on to pick the party that will rule us and our aspirations for the next five years.

I have made no secret of my political affiliations in the past, and I will reiterate them: I am hoping for and expectant of a thumping victory for the Indic nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party. We have long languished under the oppressive thumb of weak minority appeasement, pseudo-secularism and vote bank politics. It's time for the times to change, and I believe that the people of Bengal will come to the same conclusion. Either way, we should know which way the wind blew on 2nd May.

Of course, May reminds me of the other, rather unsavoury part of my existence: my upcoming graduation exams. A year-long lockdown has supremely played hopscotch with my study habits and momentum, and this last-minute curveball of offline exams means my already fragile sanity is hanging on by an ever-thinning thread. And this, of course, does not even take into account the competitive exams for my college entrance. This right here's my excuse for why I've not gotten much writing done for the past few months (though my SoD draft managed to cross 40k words).

I haven't been entirely idle though, don't worry. I finished what is possibly my longest non-novel work till date, a sci-fi short story of over 9,000 words, for an anthology. It's been submitted already, so all I can do is keep my fingers crossed.

And that brings us to the end of my briefing for now. Thank you for reading through this, and I hope you stay tuned for more
